Well, I thought that going into Thursday's matchup between the Bears and the Packers many people were trying to make you, and me, believe that Green Bay is in trouble and that the new offensive Bears would be able to put them down 0-2. But, if you took my advice, you are happy today. Not only did the Packers do exactly as I expected, The Rutgers Scarlet Knights also came through with a big win for me for a perfect night. Shortly after the Rutgers/SFU game ended, I made my next pick via Twitter for Friday's NCAA matchup between Washington State and UNLV in Las Vegas,NV. I suppose I wasn't really going out on a huge limb with this pick, and 35-27 isn't exactly a blowout, but hey, I got the Cougars at 7.5 so a win is a win.......isn't it?
Here is what I tweeted out last night (Thurs)
I hope to have some updated selections for the NCAA early games within the hour. Keep in mind that I will not be posting picks for every game and some games will not have a preview attached.

These picks are intended for recreational use and The Sportsking is not responsible for any wagers made or bets placed based on these predictions and will not be held liable for any .

With the weekend upon us and the mid-week games in the books, I attempt to keep the winners coming Saturday. There's a few interesting matchups and some games that are really tough to judge because some teams just haven't played well at all and others have been able to surprise some people. Well, I'm 2-0 to start the week off so let's see if we can keep it going with what might be an  unpopular pick and one I may regret to start off with.

#13Virginia Tech Hokies (2-0) vs Pittsburgh (0-2)
Location: Heinz Field - Pittsburgh,PA
Favorite: Virginia Tech (-10) O/U: 45

I know this may sound strange given whats happened so far this season, but I think Pittsburgh actually have a decent chance to not only cover, but win outright. It's not a huge rivalry game and they don't play each other often, but when they do, the underdog seems to prevail more often than not. I won't ramble on and spit out numbers, but you get the point. I'm on the Panthers to cover the 10 and also like the under.

Sportsking Picks: Pittsburgh (+10)
Sportsking Picks: Under-45

Western Michigan (1-1) vs Minnesota (2-0)
Location: TCF Bank Stadium AKA 'The Gopher Hole'-Minneapolis,MN
Favorite: Minnesota (-3) O/U: 55.5

Fact: Minnesota likes to put up big points on the MAC teams, although this number seems a little high, but that's due to the play of both offenses so far. The Broncos have issues beating Big Ten teams, especially on the road and they won't do it tomorrow .Take the Gophers

Sportsking picks: Minnesota (-3)

UL Monroe (1-0) vs Auburn (0-2)
Location: Jordan Hare Stadium - Auburn,AL
Favorite: Auburn (+15) O/U:53.5

OK, I'm taking this one simply because I like the story it would make if they did it again. Plus, this isn't the same Auburn team of the last few years and the Warhawks actually have a pretty potent offense. Imagine if they could actually knock off SEC teams in consecutive weeks? And while  I don't necessarily think they will win, even though I hope they do, I do think they will cover the 15 points and I am also riding the under 53.5.

Sportsking picks: UL Monroe (+15)
Sportsking picks: Under-53.5

OTHER EARLY GAMES - QUICK PICKS:

-Maryland (+3)
-Northern Illinois (-3.5)

MORE PICKS FOR THE LATER GAMES WILL BE POSTED IN THE MORNING. ENJOY THE GAMES EVERYONE! AS ALWAYS I WELCOME ANY AND ALL COMMENTS. GAME ON!

With both the NFL and NCAA Football seasons underway and some games in the books, it's time to get back into sharing my winning picks with everyone. Normally, I will provide matchup information, spreads, stats, and some analysis with my picks, but as my time is limited right now due to my actual job, I will simply post the games I like with not as much info. So lets go!

Chicago Bears (1-0) vs Green Bay Packers (0-1)
Location: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI
Favorite: Packers (-5.5)  O/U : 51.5

Really like what the Bears have done in the off-season and I was impressed by their Week 1 performance as were many other people, but is this the year they finally meet expectations? It may or may not be, but let's not forget that while the Packers did lose in Week 1, they lost to a team that many have picked to make it to the Super Bowl and Chicago played a 2-14 disaster of a team with a rookie QB who threw 3 INT's. I don't expect Green Bay to lose 2 straight at home & if you think I'm wrong, consider this: They're last home loss before Week 1 was an OT loss to the Dolphins on Oct.17, 2010 and the last time they lost 2 straight at home was on Nov.30 and Dec.7, 2008. That was also the same year that Aaron Rodgers took over from Brett Favre and they won only 6 games all season. Green Bay has won the last 4 meetings head to head, and 6 of the last 7. My initial thought was that the Bears may keep it close enough to get the cover, but I'm now leaning strongly towards the Packers.

Sportsking Picks: Packers -5.5
Not taking the total personally, but If I were: Under is 8-1 in the last 9 head to head meetings, Over is 5-0 in Bears games after they win the previous game and the over is 4-0 in the Packers last 4 overall.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-0) vs South Florida Bulls (2-0)
Location: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL
Favorite: South Florida (7.5) O/U: 44

While South Florida has exploded on offense so far this season, the Scarlet Knights defense seems to like playing against the Bulls, as do the rest of the team as proved by them winning 5 of the last 6 games head to head. Most experts say the South Florida offense will pour it on again this week, but
I disagree. USF are 0-8 ATS in last 8 games on Thursday and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 home games. I'm riding with the Scarlet Knights tomorrow night to get it done in Florida and go 3-0 for the first time in 5 years.

Sportsking Picks: Rutgers +7.5

Some good games happening in NCAA Football this weekend and it all get's started tonight with an SEC matchup between LSU and MSU (Mississippi State). I had a pretty bad weekend for picks in week 2, but still managed to get 4 of 8 ATS picks & hope for a much better week 3. A few surprises last week and a few games that went exactly like they should have, not to mention some delays and weather issues wreaking havoc on sportsbooks everywhere. All in all a pretty good weekend of college football.
I am posting a list of week 3 games that I will be making selections for and it will be updated between now and Saturday, so check back for updates if you are looking at the same games. Picks for totals will be posted later as well, as I am limited for time because I am covering the NHL Youngstars tourney in BC.

Fri. Sept.9.11
Florida International at Louisville (-3.5) T:47.5
Not many people think an upset is possible in this one, but I disagree. I think Louisville`s history of shaky starts & overall sloppy play will hurt them in this matchup against a Golden Panthers team on the rise. T.Y Hilton and the Int`l running game will be a big reason for this upset, plus I believe they also have a more efficient QB and experienced offence. Louisville defence needs to be ready for more up tempo offence then they saw in week 1 and need to be alot more disciplined as they were penalized 10 times against Murray State.

Pick: Florida International (+3.5)

Quick Picks:

SD State at Army (+9.5) T:54.5
Pick: SD State (-9.5)

Iowa at Iowa St. (+6.5) T:43
Pick: Iowa (-6.5)
Pick: Under-43

(2)Alabama at (20)Penn State (+10) T:42
Pick:Penn State (+10)
Pick: Under-42
Bama probably wins game, but likely closer than 10pts.

(25)Texas Christian at Air Force (+1) T:49.5
Pick: Air Force (+1)
Crazy to think that TCU could be 0-2, my initial thought was that it couldn`t happen, but the Falcons are successful running the ball, which they will try.....alot, could be a long day for Frogs fans.

Nevada at (14)Oregon (-26.5) T:63
Pick:Over-63
Pick:Oregon (-26.5)
Ducks should hit this total by themselves looking to rebound from opening week loss. Seems like an inflated number that makes it really tempting to take a shot with the Pack, but the Over is the first play IMO.

(16)Mississippi State at (22)Auburn (+6) T:57
Pick:Auburn (+6)
Pick:Under-57
Not much to say here, defending national champs as dogs I will usually bite. Tight game, much better Bulldogs team last couple years, but Tigers get it done in the end.

UNLV at Washington State (-14) T:55.5
Pick: Washington State(-14)

*Picks for the late afternoon or evening games (depending on time zone) will be posted sometime between Friday and Saturday afternoon.

Thursday Sept.8/11-NFL-Week 1
New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers (-4) T:47

Packers have won  5 of the last 7 head to head meetings between these two teams and the Saints have just 1 win at Lambeau ('06) in about 20 years. Should be a close game, but we give the edge to the defending champs. The total is curiously low at 47 (at time of posting) for two teams who are known for putting up points. In fact, the last time the Saints and Packers played to an under against each other was in 1993. We expect the number to climb slightly as we approach kick-off time as the money pours in on the over, so the under just might be worth a look, but its an awful big risk considering the high flying offences of both teams, but it's something to consider.
OUR PICK: Packers (-4)
OUR PICK: Over-47
